Dr. Juanita Mitchell begins her first season as the assistant women’s coach at Southern Arkansas University Tech in 2018-19. Mitchell has been employed by the college since 2016 as the Director of the Career Academy.
Dr. Mitchell attended Southern Arkansas University Tech in Camden and earned her Associate of Arts degree in General Studies. She then transferred to Henderson State University to obtain her Bachelor of Arts degree in English. After leaving Henderson State, she was employed by Camden Fairview High School as an English teacher. During that time, she re-enrolled at Henderson State University to pursue her Master of Science in Education degree to become a principal. She was later transferred to Camden Fairview Middle School as Assistant Principal. While serving as Assistant Principal, Dr. Mitchell continued her education at Henderson State and gained a Curriculum Program Administration program of study and an Educational Specialist degree for superintendency.
While working in Camden Fairview School District, she began her doctorate degree at Arkansas Tech University in Russellville and graduated in December 2017. Dr. Mitchell resigned from Camden Fairview School District to gain employment at Southern Arkansas University Tech in Camden as the Director for the Career Academy, which provides career and technical job skills and knowledge for high school students to be advanced in the workforce. She is also an adjunct professor for the College.
Dr. Mitchell’s primary responsibilities will be to keep stats, collect forms, monitor athletes’ academic progress, and confirm transportation and travel arrangements.
